The New Jersey Sumo Club runs Sumo Training on Sunday Mornings. Sumo is a form of competitive full-contact wrestling where a rikishi (wrestler) attempts to force his opponent out of a circular ring (dohyō) or into touching the ground with any body part other than the soles of his feet (usually by throwing, shoving, or pushing him down).
Our Kids program focuses more on fundamental Jiu-Jitsu positions with a fun and accessible twist! Open to kids ages 6+, we teach important concepts around grips, distance management, and submissions in a safe and controlled environment. Kids learn essential Jiu Jitsu techniques in our gamified courses that improve coordination, confidence, discipline, and their ability to defend themselves.
