Common FAQ's for Parents
How early can I enroll my child in Jiu Jitsu?
We find that age 5 or 6 years old is the earliest a student will start learning and retaining what is taught.
Is Jiu-Jitsu too rough for shy or small kids?
Part of Jiu Jitsu is learning about yourself and capabilities. For children we find that it helps them come out of their shell by providing a safe comfortable environment to learn and grow.
Does Jiu Jitsu help with bullies?
Confidence learned on the mat will spread to all areas of life, including dealing with difficult situations or bullies. It’s impossible to bully someone who is secure in who they are and what they’re doing, and being able to defend yourself from physical danger is a huge bonus.
Does Jiu-Jitsu teach kids how to fight or avoid fighting?
At it’s core, Jiu Jitsu teaches about body control, without punching or kicking. We teach how to safely get to a position on the ground where your child can pin an opponent, controlling them without hurting them or themselves.
Is Jiu-Jitsu safe for young kids?
Absolutely! Safety and awareness are the first things taught to new students. You can't truly learn Jiu Jitsu until you can learn to be safe.
Can Jiu-Jitsu help build my child's confidence?
We find that both children and adults are able to approach all situations with more confidence when they practice a martial art. Physical and mental discipline learned on the mats translates to any situation in the real world where you might feel pressure or uncertainty.
